Deconstruction is one of the contemporary philosophies first used by Heidegger in contrast to Nietzsche’s Demolition. It was elaborated and coined by Derrida. Deconstruction is not defined as “what it is” (because it limits itself) rather “what deconstruction is not.” It is not an analysis, critique, method, act/operation, and not a synonym of destruction. It is near to “analytic reading” and “reverse engineering” (undo). It is not a destruction of the text rather it is “disassembling” it and “constructing” it again. In this way, understanding and awareness of the text’s meanings and loopholes happen.

Anthem 47 is a song composed by Rev. Fr. Esperidion “Boy” Celis. I don’t really know why he entitled this song Anthem 47. All I can do for now is just to approximate it. Anthem is a song of praise, commitment and loyalty. Most of the processional and entrance songs are really songs of praise, commitment and challenge. In other words, most of the processional songs are anthems. With this, I can say that Anthem 47 is really an anthem. The lyrics of the song go this way:

1.)Nakabati kami sang maayo mo nga buhat kag amon nga nakita sa ciudad sang Ginoo. Sia magapadayon sa pagdampig sa amon sa pagbantay sang aton banwa sa iya nga gahum.

Koro: Sa sulod sang Imo nga templo nagapamalandong kami sang imong paghigugma kag imong pagdumala.

(Koro)
What I don’t know about the title of the song is the “number 47.” Maybe it was his favorite number. Maybe it was the 47th anthem he composed. I don’t know. All I know is that he has a reason why he put 47 in the title.

Deconstruction as what I have learned is not a destruction of the text. It is disassembling the text. It is CTRL+Z in the keyboard (undo). It is more of a reverse engineering. With this reason, I did not change or critique the song of Fr. Celis, rather I will show to you how I can disassemble it. It goes this way: (go to this link)

Language is important in us humans because through it, we can express what we think and feel (ideas, thoughts, and emotions). Without language, it is hard to express and relate. Even though language has its own life and world, we use it to reveal our self (Self-Revelation-of-the-Being through language). Sometimes, we can know the person through the words he/she is using. It is sometimes the revelation from the inside. For example: A person always speaks of “binastos.” With this, we can approximate that he/she is a maniac. Language (since we first become conscious) has been our tool in revealing our self to others. And so, we cannot avoid using language in our everyday life. In relation to deconstruction, the more we use language, the more we can use deconstruction. When we deconstruct something, we can still deconstruct the “deconstructed.” The more language we have, the more language we can deconstruct.
